I'm Client Zero- Planning & Prep

The process of remodeling my kitchen was super exciting! Even though we had to set up our mock kitchen in the dining room, and use my friend's camping stove to cook at times…in the end it was worth it.

The first thing that I did was determine my budget…and prepared myself for going over 20% based on unforeseen issues (which there always are). In my case- the windows. Everything from drywall to finish materials was included. Of course if you're working with a designer, they would help you put this together.

I planned my new layout which included building a buffet area and upper glass cabinets to showcase some decorative items. I also decided to eliminate the outdated desk area and put in a custom coffee station and wine case.

I had my construction crew set, so I was onto selecting materials. I fell in love with my Cambria mitered edge countertops which I also used as my full height backsplash to create a seamless approach. I also quickly became obsessed with my accent backsplash by Artistic Tile. I knew that I wanted to create a custom hood with brass accents, so I worked closely with my cabinet maker to design it.

The demo team got to work on removing everything from my kitchen down to the studs. The highlight was when my refrigerator fell on its face and broke. But that's a story for another day!

We updated the electrical and plumbing. The highlight there is my brass pot filler from California Faucets. They are always a go-to for me for their sleek elegance!

It was a long process of demo and prepping. We lucked out because the weather was nice and we grilled out all summer long!

Tomorrow, I’ll share the fun part- finish materials!
